I purchased this one for my daughter. She lives in Florida and has a young son, so we thought they would enjoy it as much as we do. We have had ours for more than 5 years and take it with us any time we go to the beach. It provides much needed shade for many people. It is extremely easy to put up and take down. I can easily do it by myself. If you frequent the beach or even go occasionally like we do, you won't regret the investment. Beach umbrellas are hard to put up, easily blow away in high winds and only protect 1 or 2 people. The Shibumi is a game changer!!!

We purchased the large version. We took our new Shibumi to the beach for the first time. It was VERY windy! Wind gusts up to 20 mph or more. We set it up and took it down and packed it up very quickly and easily. It is very light weight and easy to carry. There was another Shibumi there so I walked over to chat. Theirs was the old version, and 3 years old. The sound it made was not significantly louder but the sound was different - more of a crackle sound. Anyone who had an umbrella at the beach had it laying on the ground due to high winds. Because it was late in the day (5:30 pm in early April on Florida's west coast) the shade was behind the Shibumi and we sat there next to it and didn't mind the sound at all. So far we are thrilled with this purchase.

I got this for my parents for Christmas. I was looking for something that would be lightweight and easy for them. We used it for the first time today.
