Shibumi Shade with Quiet™ Canopy features our quietest canopy yet. We spent more than two years developing the perfect custom fabric to reduce noise, so it stays quieter in high winds. The new Quiet Canopy also features an updated connection point where the cord connects to the shade allowing the poles to slide smoothly through the channel during setup without getting stuck. The new canopy also has a higher recycled content.

How Does It Work?

Shibumi Shade® beach shades are designed to float effortlessly on the ocean breeze. As little as 3 mph of wind is all it takes to keep the canopy floating comfortably.
Because the canopy has no rigid structure, Shibumi Shade cannot fly away in a strong gust, or tumble down the beach.

Which Size Shibumi is Right for Me?
The Shibumi Shade Classic is best for families and groups of 3 to 6, with room leftover for bags, coolers, beach gear, etc!
The new Shibumi Shade Mini is best for small groups (1-2 people), and provides about half of the shaded area of the original Shibumi Shade.

I purchased a Mini Shibumi to provide shade for a 50 gallon stock tank that waters my small flock. In the direct sun algae grows fairly quickly in the stock tank. I have it on a South-North orientation in a paddock; there is rarely enough breeze to keep the shade aloft as it would be at a beach, however, the wind assists and front tie work to keep the shade in place (I use weights left over from a previous square canopy that was damaged in a windstorm), and the back of the shade is draped over the paddock fence. The shade has kept the water cool and reduced algae growth.

My family has always gone to the beach, and we have always employed umbrellas. We had some that would last twenty years and others that hardly lasted one season. In all those years no one questioned the faithful shade it provided. Then, all of a sudden, there was the Shibumi - wtf! an alternative? We looked at them and discussed them for several seasons, and just couldn’t see a downside. Alas we have two lifeguard approved relatively new ones that will never see the light of the sun. Once you experience the ease of use and the amount of protection provided by them, you will never go back to the center pole that is always in the way.

We just spent a week at the beach with the shbumi. We have a family of 15 and have had three shbumis up at once while we spend time at the beach. It s perfect since there is always a breeze by the beach and perfect for the kiddos in our family to play under. The easy set up and take down has to be our favorite part. Takes no more than 2 minutes!! I’d give it 12/10 stars if I could.

Went to beach with friends and they had a shibumi. We fell in love with how easy the assembly is and how light weight and small it packs up. I paid for expedited shipping just so we could have it the rest of our trip. Well worth the money and love the bright colors! We did have to use the wind assist a few times but not because it was too windy. It actually helped with having no wind at all as well.

The shibumi was perfect. Easy set up and take down. Coverage was perfect. But it was the unique color that made it. JMU grad so the colors worked!! But it also help me locate it — oak island had the traditional beautiful colors flying so the new colors helped us stand out!!
