Whoever invented this thing is a genius!!! It works very very well and I am so glad we purchased one. A little pricey but worth it. I also hope to purchase a mini one this summer. Your skin will love you for it. The only thing I would suggest is throughly study the directions and maybe have several friends to help you set it up the first time. It’s not really hard to erect but , extra people, the first time you use it, makes it easier & quicker. Also the added people help you and you don’t look like such a complete moron trying to get it up with the wind fiercely blowing. Half of the beach were laughing and trying to help. After about 2 times we were pros at it. Wasn’t hard at all. I can actually put up the larger one by myself . S., Things that you don’t know sometimes overwhelms you. So be patient and you will be shaded from the sun in no time
and your skin won’t look like a lobsters. LOVE MY SHIBUMI !!!!!!!!

We just bought our second Shibumi Shade. We bought our first in 2017 and it has been used sooo many times. We chose to buy a second as the first one was tearing a bit at the ends since the wind here on the NC beaches can be quite strong. Also, our collapsible pole snapped on one very windy day last season. My husband fixed it, however it will not fit as nicely in the bag.
We love the shade and find it so easy to work with on the beach as the wind changes direction throughout the day. It provides more than sufficient shading for us and sort of stakes out our beach space.
The windy flapping noise some people complain about is welcoming as it blocks out neighboring conversations, children's screaming, and blaring music.
The only downside we find is that some NC beaches do not allow them* except in certain areas which seem to be away from the beach entrances and bathrooms. This is difficult for seniors to have to travel even further carrying their beach going stuff.
*Certain beaches do not allow any beach covers other than single pole umbrellas close to entrance ways. Single pole-a weapon waiting to fly!

Used it for the first time last week in the Caribbean. Windy weather. Lots of sun, but not on us. Nice to not have an umbrella pole to deal with or worry about it blowing away! easy to put up and it fit in our suitcase! A fellow Shibumi owner put theirs up right beside us one day that they had just gotten - instant friends.
