How is the new Shibumi Shade with Quiet™ Canopy different from the previous version?
Shibumi Shade with Quiet™ Canopy features our quietest canopy yet. We spent more than two years developing the perfect custom fabric to reduce noise, so it stays quieter in high winds. The new Quiet Canopy also features an updated connection point where the cord connects to the shade allowing the poles to slide smoothly through the channel during setup without getting stuck. The new canopy also has a higher recycled content.
How much quieter is it?
Significantly quieter. Our new Quiet Canopy has a softer, more pleasing sound at all wind speeds. The softer fabric with added stretch also significantly reduces loud flapping in high winds.
How Does It Work?

Shibumi Shade® beach shades are designed to float effortlessly on the ocean breeze. As little as 3 mph of wind is all it takes to keep the canopy floating comfortably.
Because the canopy has no rigid structure, Shibumi Shade cannot fly away in a strong gust, or tumble down the beach.

Which Size Shibumi is Right for Me?
The Shibumi Shade Classic is best for families and groups of 3 to 6, with room leftover for bags, coolers, beach gear, etc!
The new Shibumi Shade Mini is best for small groups (1-2 people), and provides about half of the shaded area of the original Shibumi Shade.

I live the watermelon vibe sun shade! Most of the other shades were other colors. So when I came up from the water and tried to find my spot, it was so easy to see. It was a quick setup upon arrival and easy to setup with one person. It’s lightweight and fits inside my beach bag. I want a bigger one next time! But the mini is perfect for a couple people.

Bought the mini to take on vacations and not spend huge amounts on umbrellas at every beach, or likely burn otherwise.
The mini did not disappoint for ease of set up, quality of use experience and take down was also no stress. Use the Wind Assist in no wind or high wind situations to keep the shade in position without flapping. Best for 2 people but we made some friends and four people can fit under the shade without too much issue.
Would have bought this years ago if I had known about it.

I purchased the shibumi shade with wind assist in the orange and pink color for use in the Outer Banks, NC. This product was easy to put up and I was able to do it by myself, and it provided a good amount of shade. It claims eight people, and that would be true if you had two rows of four chairs close together, fewer people if not using that configuration. We had mixed results with the wind assist. We had two days that were not windy at all and one day we were able to use the wind assist to mostly keep it from falling over, and the other day the wind assist did not work at all and I ended up taking it down. I liked the orange and pink as no one else on that stretch of beach had it, making it easy to find out group - though we saw a number of the blue and turquoise) set up. Overall I am very happy with my purchase and wish I'd had one for prior beach trips, and I recommend the product.

I had never seen or used a Shibumi shade before but we bought one for our recent beach trip and it was wonderful. It was quiet and provided a lot of shade and never fell down. The wind assist was helpful. We got the largest shade and I think it fit 5-6 people the most comfortably. It was really easy for one person to set up and folder in a small easy carrying case. I had been a little skeptical that it would work and was pleasantly surprised.

Used Shibumi for first time July 4th week at beach! Great product and took 5 minutes putting it up for first time. Great shade coverage for 4 people , large cooler and bags. Easy to take down and fits in small bag. Great product. Now I see why there were so many at beach!

This is our second purchase of a Shibumi Shade, and we absolutely love it! We got the periwinkle/coral color combo, and for now at least, we’re easy to spot on the beach in the sea of Shibumis on EI! The new Shibumi is a bit quieter than our original one, making it more conducive for napping under whether an adult or child. Easy to set up, easy to take down whether flying solo or with a partner. The Wind Assist is a handy tool when there’s no wind, and our Shibumi Chairs allow for comfy lounging and fit nicely under the Shibumi for moments of shade, lunch or naps. We will never go back to anything else! Run, don’t walk to get yours!
