Location: In-person, Raleigh, NC
Company Background:
Shibumi is a rapidly growing outdoor lifestyle brand based in Raleigh, NC. Shibumi was founded in 2016 by two brothers and their best friend, who, assigned to the task of beach setup and takedown during their annual family vacations, were fed up with the beach shade offerings on the market and decided to take matters into their own hands.
The company’s iconic first product, the Shibumi Shade, has garnered a cult-like following and can be seen on beaches around the country. The Shibumi Shade works with the wind instead of against it, and stands out for being lightweight, easy to set up and take down, and durable. In 2025, Shibumi launched its Shibumi Beach Chair – and it became an instant best-seller, winning awards from NY Times Wirecutter, Forbes, Dwell, the Daily Mail and others. Shibumi products are sold in both premium local retailers, direct-to-consumer, and Amazon.
Position Overview:
You will report directly to our Head of Fulfillment and work closely with our floor manager from week one. We will train the right person. What we cannot teach is the willingness to figure things out, think independently, and take ownership. If that’s you, we want to hear from you.
Responsibilities:
-
Develop business and project plans for initiatives that cut across the organization, including new products, distribution, partnership opportunities, and improvements to internal operations.
-
Partner closely with our CEO and management team on a variety of strategic initiatives.
-
Provide decision support through research, analysis of information, and clear presentation of considerations.
-
Manage critical aspects of deliverables with a hands-on approach, including drafting correspondence, and other tasks that facilitate the ability to effectively execute on top priorities.
-
Prepare communication and research for the management team, including, but not limited to, company updates, presentations and data analysis.
-
Conduct meeting preparation and research: You will be responsible for providing research and insight for all management meetings as well as ensuring that all internal meetings have a defined agenda and objectives.
-
Prepare presentations for internal and external audiences. This will usually involve designing highly compelling presentations for company-wide and board meetings.
-
Provide ad-hoc support on projects small to large; these could include presentations (internal and external), research tasks, financial modeling, internal initiatives, supply chain execution, incremental distribution gains, new market and product explorations, and more. Step in where help is most needed.
-
Assist in prioritizing the management team’s time and help tackle projects on their behalf. Attend meetings if they cannot make it and summarize key takeaways and action items.
The Ideal Candidate Possesses:
Education
-
Bachelor's degree (4-year college degree) preferred.
Skills & Qualifications
-
Strong working knowledge of Google Sheets.
-
Excellent written communication skills, particularly via email and Slack.
-
Strong problem-solving and critical thinking abilities.
Mindset & Work Style
-
Eager to Learn: We'll teach you everything you need to know. The most important requirement is a willingness to learn, absorb new information quickly, and take ownership of your work.
-
Self-Starter: You don't wait to be told what to do. If something doesn't look right, you speak up. If you see a better way to do something, you share your ideas and help improve the process.
-
Detail-Oriented: Much of this work is repetitive but high-impact. Accuracy matters, and you take pride in catching mistakes before anyone else does.
Experience
-
Background in operations, logistics, supply chain, business, or a related field is a plus.
-
Hands-on experience in a warehouse or operations environment is preferred but not required.
