Product Questions
  • How Does it Work?

The Shibumi Wind Assist™ includes 2 custom-designed canopy clips, each attached to a sand anchor bag with a strong bungee cord.

Setup is a breeze and takes less than a minute. Each clip attaches to a trailing corner of the Shibumi Shade® canopy, and to a sand anchor on the other end. By anchoring each corner with a strong bungee cord and sand anchor, the Wind Assist™ allows your Shibumi Shade® to better maintain its shape, even in less than ideal wind conditions.

  • Can I Use Wind Assist™ All The Time?

You won't need to! Shibumi® beach shades are designed to float effortlessly on the ocean breeze. As little as 3 mph of wind is all it takes to keep the canopy floating comfortably.

The Wind Assist™ is best for those times on the beach when there's barely a breeze.

  • Can I Use The Wind Assist™ In High Winds?

We don't recommend using the Wind Assist in moderate to high winds. Although the Wind Assist will remain safely attached even in high winds, we recommend removing it to avoid potential damage to your canopy from prolonged use in strong wind.

  • Will The Wind Assist™ Work With Any Shibumi Shade?

Yes! We designed Wind Assist™ to work with any Shibumi Shade!

  • Can I Use My Shibumi Away From The Beach Now?

Although the Wind Assist is helpful in low-wind conditions on the beach, we still don't recommend using your Shibumi Shade away from the beach, even with Wind Assist.

    Great addition

I have a standard mini shibumi and have used the wind assist anchors once. They were easy to use and could fit in the bag with the shibumi so I didn't have to carry anything extra. Two benefits I was not expecting were that they helped limit luffing from changing wind directions and the made it so much quieter since they cut down on flapping. They aren't heavy enough to stay in place in super strong wind, slowly creeping over time, but that's a minor issue that could potentially be solved by burying them.

    Shibumi💙

We’ve had 2 shibumis for a few years now and we absolutely love them. We usually have about 10 people so we put them side by side and have lots of shade. I love that I can carry them and set them up by myself as I’m always the first one on and the last one off the beach. This year I purchased the wind assist kits and we did have ONE day with no wind. They were great. I love not having to chase down broken and wayward umbrellas or canopies. Just set up and enjoy the day!

    Problem solved.

Last year we saw a ton of Shibumis at Atlantic Beach, NC and I knew I needed one. I ordered and received it in time for a second beach trip to Duck where we had light and shifting winds. The experience using it was troublesome. When I saw your announcement about the Wind Assist, I immediately ordered one and luckily was in the first batch in time for our trip to Atlantic Beach. The winds are adequate but a little shifty so I am trying it out. First of all, the flapping sound is mostly eliminated and I find myself having to tend to it so much less. Great job.
