Shibumi Shade with Quiet™ Canopy features our quietest canopy yet. We spent more than two years developing the perfect custom fabric to reduce noise, so it stays quieter in high winds. The new Quiet Canopy also features an updated connection point where the cord connects to the shade allowing the poles to slide smoothly through the channel during setup without getting stuck. The new canopy also has a higher recycled content.

Significantly quieter. Our new Quiet Canopy has a softer, more pleasing sound at all wind speeds. The softer fabric with added stretch also significantly reduces loud flapping in high winds.
How Does It Work?
Wind Powered®
Shibumi Shade® beach shades are designed to float effortlessly on the ocean breeze. As little as 3 mph of wind is all it takes to keep the canopy floating comfortably.
Because the canopy has no rigid structure, Shibumi Shade cannot fly away in a strong gust, or tumble down the beach.

Which Size Shibumi is Right for Me?
The Shibumi Shade Classic is best for families and groups of 3 to 6, with room leftover for bags, coolers, beach gear, etc!
The new Shibumi Shade Mini is best for small groups (1-2 people), and provides about half of the shaded area of the original Shibumi Shade.

We've been going to OBX for a few years and had traditional 4 leg tents until this year. They always required multiple people to setup and a lot of sand bag filling. And they were heavy and took up a lot of space in the car. We used the shibumi this year (coral color is great) and my husband set it up all by himself. Shade coverage is great and it's easy to move the poles with the wind.

This is the best invention ever for beach goers. We can spend more time on the beach while being protected from the sun. Almost everyone has a Shubumi here. They are lined up and down the beach.

We were on vacation at Pawleys Island and noticed the beautiful sun shade being used by the folks next to us. The shade was incredible compared to our standard canvas umbrella. at the hotel. They told us, "It's a Shibumi and it was developed by some brilliant UNC guys!" We took a photo and ordered one immediately. Next time, we won't have to move our chairs around to catch the shade, we will have plenty under our own Shibumi.

Where has this been all my life?!!! I have been a beach fan my whole life and nothing compares to the ease of putting this up, the shade it gives, and the calming sound as it blows in the wind!!!! The packaging and storing of the Shibumi is so compact and it weighs next to nothing!! As a female putting this together it is so easy as there is no digging and I can do it by myself in just minutes!! And I don’t have to worry about it blowing away. I just sit and watch as others struggle with their umbrellas and tents!! And I see more and more Shibumis each year…. I just can’t say enough!!!
