FAQs

Wind Powered®

The Shibumi Shade® beach shade is designed to float effortlessly on the ocean breeze. As little as 3 mph of wind is all it takes to keep the canopy floating comfortably.

Because the canopy has no rigid structure, Shibumi Shade cannot fly away in a strong gust, or tumble down the beach.

Check the current wind conditions at your beach, and view wind forecasts anywhere in the world here: windfinder.com

Each year, at least 7 million tons of plastics flow into the oceans from land, and at current rates, there will be more plastic by weight in the oceans than fish by 2050.

To help address the root cause of ocean plastic, Shibumi Shade® beach shade now uses REPREVE® Our Ocean® fiber, made from plastic bottles at high risk of entering the ocean. These bottles are collected within 50 kilometers of coastlines in countries that lack formal waste or recycling systems.

The new and improved Shibumi Shade is better for you, and better for the beach.

    Better than ANY beach umbrella—EVER

This shade is great! We’ve used it on beaches from NC’s Outer Banks, to Florida’s Gulf coast to the sugar white sands of Alabama’s beautiful coast. Every time we set it up, people come up and ask us about it. We’re always happy to tell them about it! It goes up easy, is simple and easy to adjust, and breaks down oh so easily and quickly. More shade— less hassle, looks dynamic on the shore— who doesn’t want all that!?

Best way to have shade on the beach!

We love how light weight this is instead of hauling a huge tent to the beach!

And you should always match it!! 😂

    Super design but warning

Great product but check with your beach..an ordinance at Orange Beach Alabama prohibits shades this large closer than about 50 yards to the water. ..they were exceptionally nice but made us move. :-(

    Great product

I bought the Shibumi Shade for our trip to North Topsail Beach. We were intrigued by the design, having never seen them before the previous years trip to North Topsail Beach. Easy to setup and did a great job keeping our young grandson out of the sun. It’s a little challenging getting back in the bag, but I would highly recommend the Shibumi Shade!

    Edisto Island Summer Closeout

This was a last-minute purchase for us as we finalized our Edisto Island family trip this past Labor Day weekend. We had initially planned to pack our bulky, and always troublesome to set up, canopy, but through an executive family decision we made the purchase. This was the easiest to erect and most effective sunshade I have ever utilized. The first time we put it up, we had all hands on deck and we didn't need any of them because of how ingenious this product is! With its lightweight frame and combo carrying/sand-bag this is an absolute must-have for even the "once in a while" beech goer. Absolutely love it!

Just what I need for my trimaran.

I bought a Shibumi Sun Shade for my F33 trimaran. Instead of sand, I anchor the pole into capped PVC tubes, and put a shackle on the cap so that there is some flexibility on where the pole gets attached to the boat. The tension in the poles mean you don’t need to secure the PVC tubing top and bottom. Just secure the shackles to something like a pad eye.

The Shibumi is expensive, but nothing like the cost (or the weight) of a bimini. And anyway, you get what you pay for. Also, it’s easy to move the Shibumi around as the sun moves across my boat. The pictures I’m posting were taken in the late afternoon.
